November 2024 – Mumbai-based artist and singer-songwriter Ramil Ganjoo, in collaboration with Robach Music Group, has released his latest single, “Sandook”—a heartfelt ode to his childhood home and the memories it holds. With this track, Ramil taps into the power of nostalgia, expressing the bittersweet experience of revisiting cherished moments preserved in the “chest” that his family home represents.
A Nostalgic Journey
Named after the Hindi word for “chest,” “Sandook” embodies the spirit of a personal time capsule, drawing listeners into a space where memories linger. Ramil shares, “I lived in that house for almost 18 years, and after it was demolished, I realized how much it meant to me. The name Sandook felt right because that place was a treasure trove of memories.”
Crafting “Sandook”
Written and recorded while traveling in the serene landscapes of Himachal, “Sandook” was crafted in Ramil’s home studio with a unique set of sounds created on the OP-1 synthesizer, chosen for its ability to convey a sense of nostalgia. Ramil describes the songwriting as a deeply personal process. “I usually write alone, even if I’m collaborating. It’s important to me that my songs feel authentic and unfiltered,” he says.
The single features delicate backing vocals by Avanti Singh, whose ethereal voice adds depth to the track’s sentimentality. The song was expertly mixed by Ninad Lad, whose long-standing collaboration with Ramil brings warmth and clarity to “Sandook’s” soundscape.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Ramil says, “They say home is made of people, not walls. Maybe that’s true, but when I think back, I feel like a part of me stayed in that house. This song is my way of making those walls proud.”
